Towards a Drug-Free STI College Muñoz-EDSA
In our endeavor to maintain a drug-free campus, STI College Muñoz-EDSA is maximizing all its efforts to further educate children about the adverse effects of using illegal drugs.
Last February 21, 2017 (Tuesday), an activity initiated by the NSTP coaches headed by the NSTP Coordinator and Student Affairs Head, Mr. Wilson Morano was held in the campus’s covered court. The event was called “Anti-Drug Abuse Seminar for A Drug-Free STI College Muñoz-EDSA”, and was held twice the entire day.
The talk was facilitated byMr. Paulo Victor A. Daculla of the Chief Preventive Education Community Involvement Section of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) R.O. NCR. The significant points of the seminar focused on “Drug identification and its ill effects” and “Salient provision of RA 9165 Comprehensive Dangerous Act of 2002”.
After the talk, coaches and students alike participated in the question and answer portion where they learned more about illegal drugs and its adverse effects. The event was welcomed by the Dean of the ICT Department, Ms. Marilyn Afable, and was attended by around 900 students from both the senior high school and tertiary programs.
Prior to the seminar which was the highlight of the campaign, the NSTP Department, in cooperation with the Masambong Police Station conducted a room-to-room campaign last February 16 and 17, 2017 to inform the students of the reasons random drug testing would be beneficial for both the students and the school.
As a reinforcement to the talk, Logos Drug Testing Center was invited for a random drug testing activity on February 22 and 23, 2017. This will not just ensure a drug-free campus, but will also help make our constituents feel more safe and secured inside the institution. Together, let us move towards a drug-free community!
