Preparing for the “Big One”
STI College Muñoz-EDSA, with the cooperation of Brgy. Ramon Magsaysay, recently held two rounds of earthquake drill in preparation for the anticipated “Big One”. The institution would like to make sure that the students are always prepared for any possibility of this natural calamity hitting the Metro. All participants followed the “Duck, Cover, Hold on” principle of the drill and evacuated through the assigned stairways and fire exits.
The first drill was conducted last June 30, 2016 at around 10:30 A.M., which was participated by around 570 students and employees who passed by the staircases and went straight to the open area of the campus, and in the covered court.
The second drill, on the other hand, was conducted last July 22, 2016 around the same time as the first drill. This time, the fire exits were also opened to show more evacuation options. 773 employees and students participated in the said event which went more smoothly than the first drill.
After the earthquake drills, we are now able to say that STIers from Muñoz-EDSA already know what to do in case of the “Big One”. But of course, let us hope it does not come.
