Preparations from Enrollment to Employment
New lives were improved. New ideas were formulated. Newly prepared students were formed. And they are all ready to set new records and face the corporate world in the future after being empowered and supplied with the right knowledge they need before and after their graduation in the recently concluded annual Employment Preparation Workshop for STI College Muñoz – EDSA graduating students held at the Caliraya Recreational Center, Lumban, Laguna.
The participants of the event were divided into two batches each hosting groups from different programs. It aims to prepare graduating students in the challenges they may encounter after graduation; train them with pre-employment activities such as writing a resume and preparing for an interview; improve their social skills through various team building games and activities; and prepare them in the annual Jobs Fair on February 17, 2012.
Moreover, this was also part of the college’s commitment to provide assistance to students through the Enrollment-to-Employment System of the entire STI Network of colleges in order to help them land a job right after their graduation.
Batch 1 was participated by DCET, DIT and HR students last January 12-13 2012 while Batch 2 was participated by BSIT, DMA and some DIT and HR students last January 22-23 2012 both facilitated by Mr. Roel R. Almera, College Dean of ICT; Mr. Archie Salvador, Guidance Counselor and Mr. Billie Boy De Leon, ICT Communications and Projects Head with the help of selected faculty members.
Day 1: It was officially started with socialization and grouping where students need to find their teammates by accomplishing a social game and then followed by series of lectures and activities which challenged the creative and critical thinking of the students. A surprise activity was also announced on the evening of Day 1 which served as an additional challenge to the teams.
Day 2: Team Building Exercises, representing day-to-day challenges of young professionals translated into games, followed by the next day which measured the students’ physical strength matched with creativity, intelligence, social skills and durability of the stomach – all played under corporate values and challenges like time constraint, demands and pressure.
Students were given the free time to enjoy the place and socialize with other students after the team building activities offered by the venue like Earth Ball and Football field, mud slide, zip line, zorb ball, swimming and many more.
This event would not be a success without the participation of graduating students and so, the facilitators were looking forward for another year of success, growth, maturity and transformation to the future young professionals who will make the college “angat sa iba” and help in building the nation for our future.
