An immersion activity was held last February 15, 2017 at STI College Muñoz-EDSA as  first year CUBE students of Konan University in Kobe, Japan visited the Philippines, particularly the campus to not just immerse themselves in the culture and community, but also to learn more about their field of specialization, business management.

Eleven students majoring in Business Management, two officials from Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig, including their School President, Dr. April Alcazar, and two American speakers who facilitated the session arrived at STI College Muñoz-EDSA at around 8:30A.M. The event started at 9:00AM and ended at 12:00NN, followed by a socialization meal at the Dining Laboratory, with the full-course meal prepared by a class under the HTM Department.

The event was held at the school’s AVR1-2, and was participated in by some HRM and TRM students. Mr. Brent Jones of Konan University in Japan talked about “Experienced Economy”, while Dr. Steven Gershon facilitated the discussion and activity about culture titled “Seeing the World Through Windows and Doors”.

Before the talk of the distinguished participants, our School President, Ms. Amelia D. Pagdanganan introduced STI College and its history to the participants. Likewise, the Japanese students also introduced Japan and their culture and traditions before having a dance presentation with the special participation of the Filipino students. The Japanese students also enjoyed playing Filipino games such as reversed charades, pak ganern, and kamusta ka as they were partnered and grouped with the Filipino students.

This event marked good relations between Japanese and Filipino students as both shared their knowledge, laughter, and interest in the area of business management. Hopefully, this event would be followed by more events of the like to continuously open avenues for exposure, socialization, and new learning to both local and foreign students.
