There was no stopping the fulfillment of this young man’s dream to just be at his best while passionately doing what he wants. A BS Travel Management student of STI College Muñoz-EDSA, Leo Reyes joined a segment of Eat Bulaga, a popular noontime show called “Music Hero”, where he was able to prove to himself that nothing beats working hard for your passion.

Leo auditioned in Eat Bulaga as a bassist a few months ago and received a call only after three weeks. Fortunately, he passed and was even able to win the daily round that made him a part of the semi-finals. However, the challenge wouldn’t be as thrilling had he not lost during the semi-finals round. One week after he lost the battle, he was called in again as a wild card and was given another chance to compete. This is where more of Leo was ignited. He became more motivated to work hard and improve his skills so he could be his best at this shot of a lifetime. Again, Leo brought home the bacon and was called as one of the “Music Hero Squad”. He became one of the grand finalists who competed for the title “Music Hero”.

Even though Leo did not win in the final round, he remained positive and said he enjoyed the experience. It is something he will treasure because surely, he learned something from it. For one, he said anyone wouldn’t know the importance of music in their lives until one has really succumbed to its beauty. According to him, he didn’t have any interest in music until he learned how to play the guitar. He also learned how to play the drums but focused on playing the bass because his father is also a bassist. At the young age of 11, he started loving the bass guitar and eventually joined bands since then.

For Leo, it is not the winning that matters, but the experience one gains from joining competitions. Beyond everything and anything, it is the journey – the places you’ve been to, the people you’ve met, and the memories you’ve created.

Congratulations, Leo! Thanks for making your STI College Muñoz-EDSA proud! Indeed, you are not just Eat Bulaga and STICollege Muñoz-EDSA’s Music Hero, but the People’s Music Hero!
