Another Milestone for the HTM Department
STI College Muñoz-EDSA is very proud of another milestone through the participation of our HTM Department.
Tagisan ng Talino – National Level
This year’s Tagisan ng Talino National Competition was held at STI Bohol last March 03, 2016 where our awesome participants bagged the 2nd Place in Chef’s Express. Our students are more than lucky and deserving to be the first of STI College Muñoz-EDSA’s participants to ever reach the National Level. They won the victory in Tagisan ng Talino Cluster Competition held on January 29, 2016, and now have the second best title in the National Level.
Our participants from the HTM Department were Francis Sapico, Jeffrey Gabejan, Christian Dayle Oracion, and Ira Renesa Barrera. Under Cluster 2, nine clusters competed for the said title.
The contest type is known as Market Basket. No participant knew what the ingredients were. They were just revealed during the contest proper. Hence, impromptu cooking skills were required of the contestants.
The criteria for judging were taste, flavor, and aroma. Our participants prepared shrimps dipped in peanut kisses for appetizer, chicken stuffed with halang-halang as the main dish, and gel-on with merengue for dessert.
The mouth-watering dishes cooked by our students were not just eye-catching but also smell and taste-tempting. All thanks to our ever-supportive Dean of the HTM Department and to our very own HTM Coordinator and Chef’s Express Coach, Mrs. Mercibel Alarcon. Congratulations to all of you and thank you for making us all proud! J
Educational Tour
Side-by-side with the Tagisan ng Talino feat is HTM’s Educational Tour for HRM301P, HRM401A, HRM401P, HRM402A, TRM301P and TRM401A as EDSA Shangri-la Hotel, Ayala Museum, Cintai Coritos Garden, Villa Escudero and Microtel Suites on February 28-29, 2016.
Our students did not just tour around these places. They also attended seminars on Housekeeping, and Food and Beverage at EDSA Shangri-la Hotel, and Front Office at Cintai Coritos Garden and Microtel Suites Hotel.
This fun and learning-filled two-day tour won’t be possible without the active participation of our students, as well as the support of our dear HTM Dean, Ms. Remedios M. Najera, our HTM Head, Mrs. Irene B. Francia, our HTM Coordinator, Mrs. Mercibel C. Alarcon, and our HTM Coaches, Ms. Bonnavie I. Sabdani, Mrs. Rose Ann G. Hoybia, and Ms. Razel A. Dominguez.
Congratulations HTM Department! Thank you all for exposing yourselves to the world of hospitality and management.
