Muñoz EDSA young culinary heroes joined 6th National Food Showdown 2012
Three young culinary heroes of STI College Muñoz EDSA proudly went home as the top 4 winner in the recently concluded 6th National Food Showdown 2012 NCR/CALABARZON CHEF WARS Modern Provincial Filipino (with Regional Elimination) on August 21, 2012.
The said event, with the theme “Showcasing Culinary Heroes”, was held at two venues wherein recipe writing was done at Restaurand 9501 ABS-CBN Compound and the actual skills competition took place at ISCAHM. Recipes included papaya ukoy as appetizer, ginataang papaya as main course and dulce lechosa de papaya as dessert.
The three third year Hotel and Restaurant Administration (HR501A) students, namely: Brian H. Viray, Charlene F. Madrideo, and Ma. Claudine N. Sopalanca were with their coach, Mrs. Mercibel C. Alarcon, when they won fourth place out of 17 competing colleges, culinary schools and universities. They were also with the students under Mr. Ben Voltaire N. Nato, namely: Gerwyn Arnold Talusan (3rd year HRA student) and Joseph Kuong (2nd year BSHRM student), who participated in the Bar and Dining Showdown: Flairbartending and Cocktail Mixing Competitions held at Dolphy Theater, ABS-CBN Compound.
The College of Business and Management under the supervision of Dean Remedios “Bing” M. Najera is now preparing for other national competitions that will further develop and expose STIers of Muñoz to become better in their chosen field.
STI Muñoz had discovered these young chefs with superb potentials and rocked us to recognition over other colleges and universities that we are really proud of. And the victory that these STI’ers encountered has been teaching them of not to be contented with what they achieved but continue striving until they attain the best. They have learned to respond to a personal challenge which entails their dedication, undying commitment and great involvement not only in relation to academic excellence but also in the application of their course to a professional environment.
