“Aim High with STI” as what the 1^st line of STI Hymn says.  This is very true for a 24-year old STI’er of Muñoz EDSA, King B. Fernando, as he is aiming high to be the very first Grand Champion of X-Factor Philippines.  King is a sophomore student taking up Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and the lead vocalist of the Battle of the Bands Champion: Red Cloud Band.

 His X-Factor journey started when he qualified in the Producers’ Audition.  This audition decides who will sing in front of the judges: Charice, Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano and Pilita Corrales.  King made it all the way to the next level which is the Judges’ audition where he got the “Yeses” of the prominent judges.

King is now in the Stage 3 of the competition – The Boot Camp.  In this stage, the contestants will have to go through a series of performances to test their “x factor.”  The number of contestants will then be trimmed down to 20 contestants and will be divided into four categories: Boys (5 solo male contestants aged 16-25); Girls (5 solo female contestants aged 16-25); Over 25’s (5 solo adult contestants over 25 years old); and Groups (5 group contestants aged 16 and above).

At the bootcamp, the producers will also reveal which category the judges will be mentoring. The judges will then disband for the “judges’ houses” round, where only 3 from each category will remain and proceed to the live shows.
